About Us:
The Bär customs agency was founded in 2004 by Manuel Bär under the name TransLog Zollagentur GmbH.
At that time, he already had over 30 years of professional experience in the freight forwarding industry. Previously, he was responsible for the operational management of all border offices and the development of the customs clearance division of a medium-sized freight forwarding company. However, self-employment was never his goal. Internal restructurings and strategic decisions that he, as a manager, could not support at the time, ultimately led him to strike out on his own.
So he started out together with his son Michael Bär under the name TransLog. Michael Bär had already gained several years of professional experience in a freight forwarding company at that time. For him, the decision was easier. Starting a family business together promised more adventure and opportunities at a young age than a career in a large corporation.
TransLog’s early days were tough. Without their own customers and with far too little capital, the two “bears” faced numerous obstacles and difficulties. Despite all the challenges, they managed to prevail in the fiercely competitive market. The decisive factor for their success was the combination of the older generation’s extensive experience in customs regulations and processes with the younger generation’s digital expertise.
In 2017, Manuel Bär handed over the operational management of the business to Michael Bär. In 2022, he was given a grand send-off into his well-deserved retirement.
After just a few months, however, he realized that he didn’t want to completely retire from the business and subsequently founded Bär Zollagentur Deutschland GmbH in Konstanz. The stage was set for a relaunch of TransLog Zollagentur under the new name Bär Zollagentur.
In 2023, TransLog Customs Agency was renamed Bär Customs Agency Switzerland GmbH. This resolved numerous issues of confusion with companies bearing similar names. Thanks to the active cooperation between Bär Customs Agency Switzerland and Germany, as well as a partner network built up over the years, a wide range of interesting new services can be offered.
The success story of recent years, namely not only gaining but also continuously strengthening the trust of customers, as well as the combination of experience and fresh ideas, continues.
